Water Between Worlds is the first breath of something deeper.
She sits at the edge — not the edge of land, but the edge of knowing. Behind her, a vast turquoise expanse stretches wide and restless, alive with texture and memory. Above it, a darkening indigo sky presses down, heavy with what hasn't been said. The earth beneath her is scorched and warm. She does not look back.
Her white hair cascades like water, like smoke, like something neither living nor departing. She wears deep violet, the color of intuition, of depth, of the space between dusk and dark.
This is dark femininity: not threatening, but ancient. Not sad, but still. The kind of stillness that holds entire oceans inside it.
Water Between Worlds is the opening piece in Jamie Conner's ongoing study of dark femininity — a series that dives into the mysterious, pensive, and otherworldly dimensions of womanhood.
